We recently undertook a significant project, a large marquee project of two big marquees for a 10-day school event. The build included a 20 m x 50 m marquee and a 9 m x 36 m marquee, along with full event coordination and furniture layout management.
Planning & preparation
Given the complexity of the large marquee installation – spanning big-scale metalwork, PVC framing, and extensive wood flooring—we scheduled four advance delivery runs to ensure all materials were onsite before the main installation day. This pre-staging allowed our team to work efficiently and avoid any logistical delays.
Installation highlights
Our 12-person crew built the large marquees over 2 days, beginning with the construction of the bigger 20 m x 50 m marquee. The team assembled the structural frame, installed the PVC roofing and side panels, and fitted four integrated door systems.
Simultaneously, our trusted supplier, Vacant Event Hire, delivered two 8-bay toilet units. These were strategically placed to allow the second marquee—measuring 9 m x 36 m and raised on 3 m legs—to be installed directly over the top. Inside this structure, a dividing wall created a 9 m x 21 m catering area, capable of serving up to 750 guests.
Both marquees were fitted with wood flooring and carpet, transforming the structures into elegant venues. A standout feature was the installation of five chandeliers, each measuring 1.6 m x 1 m and weighing 45 kg, which were carefully suspended along the apex of the main marquee. Additionally, 1,000 meters of fairy lights adorned the ceiling, adding a touch of magic to the space.
Once the lighting and interior linings were completed, the transformation was remarkable.
Seamless event management
As part of our full-service approach, we managed the layout and furniture arrangements for all seven events held across the 10 days. A dedicated team member was onsite for three of the key events to provide immediate support and handle any last-minute needs.
One highlight was a last-minute turnaround where we reconfigured the entire venue in record time. A seven-person team swiftly removed 300 chairs and replaced them with 20 six-foot tables, complete with tablecloths, seating, and floral centrepieces to accommodate 200 guests for lunch.
